I am writing a history dissertation and have collected many books, articles, and online sources. Now I am worried that some references may have small mistakes. I have been looking at dissertation proofreading services to understand what a final check should include. Do you check every reference yourself, or use a reference tool? Should citations be checked before proofreading the main writing? I would like to learn a simple way to check everything without becoming confused.
